This bird on this extraordinary transitional was carved from the surrounding silver, with all other details also hand-tooled. Formerly owned by art collector R.L. "Bunny" Mellon, designer of the White House Rose Garden. Marks are assay/import marks, as opposed to time-of-creation hallmarks. Early 19th C. Div. I Size L 1 7/16"
